Chicago
Public Schools partnered with KnowConflict, LLC to pilot
an after-school violence prevention program utilizing KnowConflict's
online Conflict Management for High School Students. The
pilot program, which was offered to students in 18 Chicago
high schools, commenced November 13, 2001 and lasted for
approximately 10 weeks.
At
the conclusion of the pilot program, the data was forwarded
to Arizona State University for evaluation. Just finalized,
the report concluded that the data obtained from the pilot
program indicated that the course produced beneficial results
in both attitudes toward violence and knowledge of conflict
management skills. In addition, these beneficial changes
were equivalent for both boys and girls.

We
are delighted with the results. Having objective evidence
of the program's efficacy is important to all of us. Our
program is unique. Research based, field-tested and now
empirically validated, we have directed online learning
to address an issue of great need and concern.
Our
program is ready today to help the students get the life
skills education that they need and deserve.
Violence
prevention is importance to all of us. Many studies have
concluded that conflict management/resolution programs do
indeed work. KnowConflict has developed and now tested an
online violence prevention program that teaches conflict
management and conflict resolution skills to high schools
students.
